Inpatient/outpatient: Depends on the extent of the surgery. Usually an inpatient stay is necessary for a few days.
Anesthesia: General anesthesia.
Recovery: Long-term. You should take at least two weeks off from school or work. You should wait up to six weeks with strenuous activities.
Possible side effects: Temporary swelling, aching, numbness in the incision area.
Scars: The scars are permanent. They may be startling at first, but they become less visible and smoother in about a year.
Risks: Like with every major surgery, this also includes risks such as hemorrhage, infection, scar tissue and reaction to anesthesia. Possible risks also include hematology and slow recovery (if you smoke).
Results: Permanent, if you keep your weight stable.
